Neuromuscular Energising Therapy NET
Neuromuscular Energising Therapy NET courses are held at Hollowgate House in Rotherham. There are 4 Training Courses specific to NET
2. NET Upper Limb Course aims
To enhance existing skills in the concept and application of detailed functional movement analysis with reference to the upper limb.
To further develop handling skills in the facilitation and guidance offunctional movement of the upper limb in relation to the upper quadrant.
To expand knowledge of the concept and its application with reference to patients with altered tonal state as a result of neurological damage or deficit.
To continue to use suspensions as an adjunct to the assessment and treatment of neurologically impaired patients with specific reference to the upper limb.
NET Upper Limb will enable Therapists to analyse and describe functional movement patterns of the upper quadrant, to include the effect of the upper limb in altering tonal deficit and weakness in neurologically impaired patients.
Demonstrate enhanced patient handling skills in controlling and facilitating movement of the upper limb(s) in lying, side-lying, sitting and standing and describe and demonstrate functional selective control between positions.
Integrate movement-based analysis and treatment into a paradigm which compliments and enhances existing clinical practice.
Apply suspensions throughout any upper limb movement pattern in order to stimulate muscle activity and co-contraction so improving stability and co-ordinated control around the shoulder girdle whilst evaluating the individual’s potential for recovery.
NET can be successfully used in the Assessment and Treatment of Neurological conditions including:
Spinal Cord Injury
Gillian Barre Syndrome
Commonly, patients who have experienced NET techniques describe a feeling of “lightness” and “ease of movement” following treatment.
There is no boundary of length of time following diagnosis or onset of condition to achieving muscle activation and the onset of recovery.
Individuals have been truly shocked and amazed at the results that have been achieved using NET techniques despite having been told that no further recovery is likely or that they have “plateaued”.
