Pilates is an exercise method designed to target the deep postural or 'core stability' muscles of the trunk. It will help to improve your postural awareness and postural control of pelvis, spine, shoulder, girdle, head and neck. Along with this it will help you to improve and maintain your flexibility by correcting muscle imbalances so bringing your body into correct alignment.
It is suitable for all age groups and can be beneficial to those who suffer from aches and pains in low back, mid back, shoulders and hips. It is often recommended by therapists as a way to maintain your mobility and balance and to self manage your aches and pains.
The Pilates class lasts for an hour and it consists mainly of mat work exercises to stretch, balance, align and stabilise. These exercises are performed in a controlled manner in standing and in a variety of floor positions to target different muscle groups.
A variety of small equipment such as balls, bands or rolls may be incorporated to improve your balance further.
Moreover, the class should be fun!
Class prices: £8.00 per session.
Classes run in blocks of 6
